Supporting learners in Dual VET: the human factor

Supporting learners in Dual VET: the human factor

In vocational education, learning does not happen in isolation. Learners navigate classrooms, workshops, and real workplaces simultaneously. This complexity requires strong support mechanisms.

Effective learner support includes:

  • Academic guidance

  • Emotional and motivational support

  • Clear communication between training centre and company

  • Continuous feedback

Identifying learner needs early is critical. Surveys, observation, mentoring sessions, and informal conversations help educators understand barriers and strengths.

When learners feel supported, retention improves. Motivation increases. Confidence grows.

In dual systems, collaboration between trainers, tutors, and workplace mentors creates a strong learning ecosystem.

Support is not an add-on. It is a foundation for success.
